The Mousetrapper Prime from Mousetrapper is an inline / central pointing device that uses a steering pad mechanism (a hybrid touchpad/treadmill) for cursor control, scrolling and left-click actions. The silicone-coated, slip-free steering pad requires only finger-tip pressure and minimal dexterity to control the movement of the cursor. Cursor control is achieved on the Mousetrapper by using the fingertips to move the steering pad itself. This level of functionality can be contrasted with touchpads, where cursor control is achieved by moving the finger tip across a static surface.

The steering pad on the Prime offers two dimensional scrolling and rich secondary features such as vertical scroll. A left click can be activated by simply pressing down anywhere on the steering pad. Eight programmable buttons, plus the steering pad, provide quick access to double click, left click, right click, zoom out, zoom in, cruise (or scroll) down, cruise (or scroll) up, copy, and paste functions.

The Mousetrapper Prime features replaceable and wipeable palm supports and has an attached, flexible gray mat on which to place the keyboard. Like most central pointing devices, the Mousetrapper Prime requires no overextension of the shoulder joint, and can significantly reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries to the muscles of the shoulder and upper back.

In addition to the above features, the functionality of the Prime is greatly enhanced by the downloadable MT Keys software, which includes the ability to paste text up to 254 characters long using a single button and to add user profiles. The wireless mode functions via USB with the included receiver, while the rechargeable battery has six months of battery life between charges. Cursor speed can be adjusted up to 2000 dpi.

The Unimouse Wireless from Contour Design is designed to encourage regular changing of hand position throughout the day or as discomfort is detected. It incorporates a 35° - 70° friction-based tilt mechanism and a fully articulating thumb support designed to adapt the mouse to fit the dimensions of most hands. The Unimouse Wireless is available in models for both the right and left hands.

For most individuals the 35° - 70° range of adjustment is sufficient to provide a vertical orientation that can offer an optimized and relaxed hand position. The friction-based adjustment also lets them incrementally adjust the angle throughout the day in response to the particular work being performed or when responding to negative feedback their body may be providing. The vertical tilt is complemented by the articulating thumb support that can be adjusted through a full 3-D range. By taking advantage of the pivot, slide, and pull-out options on the thumb support anyone can adapt the mouse for their own hand length and width, fine-tuning the dimensions to fit their exact needs. As with the tilt option - if discomfort is detected, minor adjustments to find an optimum position are virtually effortless. Because none of the adjustments on the Unimouse are actually "locked in" those who wish to avoid static posture of the hand have the option of encouraging postural change by changing the Unimouse body angle and thumb support position at any time.

The Unimouse Wireless is equipped with a 10 level sensor that reads from 800 - 2800 DPI. Sensitivity adjustment is via a single button located on the top of the base, just behind the 2-colour indicators. Individual performance preferences are easily accommodated as are the varying cursor control requirements that can arise when performing different types of computer work. The three low-force buttons have a 20 million click rating and feature crisp activation with an audible click. These provide access to Left, Middle and Right Clicks. An on-board shortcut offers the option of switching the Middle Click button to perform a Double Click with Auto Scroll/Scroll Lock remaining accessible via the scroll wheel click. The scroll wheel is equipped with a rubber tire for grip and has distinct but soft detents.

Those who like to customize their mouse will appreciate the wide range of programmable options that are available. There are six programmable buttons, all of which can be reassigned to perform any standard mouse action as well as a wide range of speciality actions. For those with a good memory the available PC and Mac compatible drivers also offer the option of setting "program specific" command layouts. In the program specific mode only 5 buttons remain accessible for programming.

The Unimouse Wireless employs 2.4Ghz Advanced Wireless Technology for an operational distance up to 25 feet. The 470mAh Lithium-ion rechargeable battery charges in 2 hours and can provide up to 1 month of use on a single charge. Of course, individual usage may affect this. There is also a Wired Unimouse for those who prefer the reliability of wired connections.

The Contour Mouse from Contour Design features a proven, two decade old, orthopedically supportive design. Available in several sizes - 3 for the right hand and 2 for the left hand, this design largely eliminates the potential for static grip force, a risk that is present with most conventional mice. This design features an arch on the middle of the mouse that aligns with the hollow of the hand, supporting and positioning the hand in a similar manner to arch supports in a shoe. This also provides a clear indication of where to position the hand for maximum support, allowing gravity to do much of the work in controlling the mouse. The buttons are extra long and peak at the base of the button, allowing clicks to be generated from the knuckle closest to the hand instead of the tip of the finger. Scrolling action is transferred to the thumb which permits the fingers to remain at rest by eliminating the awkward traditional "clawing" movement required to spin the wheel. The side thumb rest offers easy access to both the scroll wheel and the rocker switch. The rocker switch is located just below the thumb rest and offers access to back/forward functions when browsing the web or within documents.

The Contour Mouse Optical has the same body design and offers the same benefits as the earlier Perfit mouse that was available in White and the later Black model of the Contour Mouse. The current model is available in the Pewter Silver finish shown, facilitating usage of the mouse in Mode 1 (gross movement) and Mode 2 (fine movement). Select the optimum size using this Sizing Guide.

Those who like to customize their mouse will appreciate the wide range of programmable options that are available. There are five buttons that can be reassigned to perform any standard mouse action as well as a host of specialized actions. For those with a good memory the available PC and Mac compatible drivers also offer the option of setting "program specific" command layouts.

If the freedom of a wireless mouse is desired, the rechargeable Contour Mouse Wireless offers all of the same ergonomic benefits as well as improved performance with the addition of an adjustable DPI sensor.

The Expert Mouse Wired Trackball from Kensington is a well-established and proven mousing solution. The large lightweight 55 mm ball features a silky, smooth movement that offers sufficient resistance without straining the fingers. This smooth movement, combined with Diamond Eye optical technology, ensures precision level cursor control is available for gaming, photo editing, or everyday work. The Expert Mouse Wired Trackball also features a ScrollRing around the base of the ball, giving users easy access to quick scrolling whenever necessary.

Basic mouse click functions are plug-and-play but users also have the option of installing the TrackballWorks software for total customization of the 4 large buttons surrounding the ball. Custom and program-specific commands and macros can be programmed for easy completion without the hand leaving the trackball. The ambidextrous design easily accommodates both right and left-handed use and includes a detachable rest to aid users in maintaining a more ergonomic neutral wrist alignment.

Users who prefer a wireless device may wish to consider the Expert Mouse Wireless and Bluetooth Trackball which offers all of the same functionality as the Expert Mouse Optical but with the addition of both Bluetooth and standard 2.4 Ghz wireless freedom.

The Expert Mouse Wired Trackball will fit most hands. However, if a user has a small hand they may wish to consider the Orbit Trackball with Scroll Ring which features a smaller 40 mm trackball and is better suited for smaller hands.

The Slimblade Wired Media Control Trackball from Kensington is designed to provide specialized functionality to those working with audio, video, or image editing. Three modes of operation can be accessed. The Slimblade defaults to View mode which offers traditional cursor control and scrolling function; however, Media and View modes can be easily accessed with a single click. The Media mode provides users with quick access to play/pause, stop, and track forward/backward functions while the View mode offers zoom and pan options. A heads-up display on the monitor advises users as to which application is active and what function is being performed.

The Slimblade departs from other Kensington trackball designs by employing a 55 mm trackball which is noticeably heavier for its dimensions than other models. In order to accommodate the need to grip and rotate the ball to accomplish common tasks such as vertical scrolling, 80% of the trackball projects above the housing height, resting freely on top of the trackball base.

Note: While providing users with a stylish look and generous functionality, the Slimblade Media Control Trackball does require repetitive pinching and twisting actions to perform common tasks. As well, the increased elevation of the trackball above the housing can lead to significantly greater wrist extension than other trackball designs. These types of actions and hand placement are often considered potential contributors to the development of complaints such as carpal tunnel or other RSI. Users may wish to consider the intended usage and the degree to which these actions may be required along with any realized benefits when selecting a suitable device.

The Mousetrapper Advance (keyboard not included) is a central pointing device that uses a steering pad mechanism (a hybrid touchpad/treadmill) for cursor control and left-click actions. The RollerMouse Pro3 by Contour Design is a central pointing device that positions immediately between the operator and keyboard space bar. This keeps all mousing activity "inline", i.e., in the area immediately in front of the keyboard, eliminating the need to reach for a mouse. This also makes it suitable for use where there may be insufficient room for a mouse to be placed immediately beside the keyboard. Like all RollerMouse products, cursor movement is achieved by manipulating the tube-like cylindrical "rollerbar" with the fingertips. Rotating the rollerbar moves the cursor up and down, and sliding the bar from side to side accomplishes horizontal movement. Once the desired location is achieved, a left click can be generated by pressing down on the bar (the force required for this is adjustable from an ultra-light touch to highly tactile). The rollerbar mechanism is undergirded by a sturdy aluminum base that provides overall rigidity and keeps the RollerMouse from shifting position.

The cursor speed button located between the copy and paste buttons facilitates rapid selection between the ten cursor speed settings that range from 600 to 2400 dpi, ideal when work requires both fine control as well as rapid movement across multiple screens. Five buttons and a scroll wheel are located below the bar to generate left/middle/right clicks, copy, paste and vertical scrolling. All button functions can also be customized using the downloadable driver. The Pro3 comes equipped with optional adjustable keyboard "risers" that can be installed to elevate low profile conventional and compact single piece keyboards. The body of the RollerMouse Pro3 serves as an integrated palm support, with padded leatherette cushions that can be detached for cleaning if necessary. If a larger and more cushioned palm support is desired the RollerWave3 Accessory can be purchased separately.

The RollerMouse Pro3 offers less access to the rollerbar, just 6.6", than either the RollerMouse Free3 or the RollerMouse Red. It also has a slightly shorter travel distance than either of those models. As a result, when working with multiple screens it will usually be necessary to employ a higher cursor speed setting. Doing this will help avoid activating the end detection that automatically moves the cursor to the far side of the screen. If regularly working across dual or triple monitors either the RollerMouse Free3 or RollerMouse Red models would be more suitable options as they both offer a greater range of cursor movement before the end detection function is activated.

View the entire range of RollerMouse products here.

The StealthSwitch3 Programmable USB Switch Controller from H-Mod provides users with a means of transferring or reducing the heavy workload which the hand and fingers encounter in daily computer use. Mouse clicks, keyboard shortcuts, and multi-key macros can be programmed and triggered by foot pedals or many other types of switches.

Other common applicatons of the StealthSwitch3 Programmable USB Switch Controller include a wide variety of gaming functions, photo booth triggers, transciption control, etc.

With the StealthSwitch3 Programmable USB Switch Controller multiple switches can be connected to a CPU through a single USB port. The StealthSwitch3 Programmable USB Switch Controller is truly universal, fully programmable, and easy-to-use with both the Windows (including Windows 8.1) and Mac OS-X platforms.

The StealthSwitch3 supports up to 5 external switches (available separately) , and the number of accessible commands can be can be raised to 8 by using Shift mode which uses one switch to enable the other switches to access an alternate set of commands. Switches can be programmed to send keystrokes, mouse clicks, double clicks, drag lock, hotkeys, or macros (maximum of 4 keystrokes per macro). The StealthSwitch3 is fully programmable using the downloadable drivers. Once it is programmed, all settings are stored in the switch interface hardware so no software or drivers are required, even if you move the unit to another computer. This is especially convenient where deployment is intended on limited access systems, as programming can do done by loading the software on another computer which is not subject to these restrictions. The TrackMan Marble from Logitech is a space-saving ambidextrous trackball with a well-established record. Somewhat unique to the TrackMan Marble is the forward placement of the 40 mm trackball which sees the ball positioned almost at the very front of the unit. This puts it directly under the fingertips of the ring, index and middle fingers, freeing users to employ any or all of these in providing cursor control. The long Left and Right click buttons are located further back along the sides of the trackball body, providing easy access for the thumb and ring or pinky finger. Small inset secondary buttons offer web browser Backward and Forward commands. Cursor control on the Trackman Marble is very smooth and accurate, with the ball weighing enough that response is easily controlled. The weight of the ball is also great enough to enable users to "spin" it for rapid movement across large areas or multiple screens.

The narrow design of the TrackMan Marble is best suited to users with small to average-sized hands as those with larger or wider hands may tend to "pinch" the trackball in order to maintain placement. However, the length of the body and the primary buttons does mean that users with longer hands can accomplish excellent cursor control while still easily performing click actions.

Some users may find the absence of a dedicated scroll feature on the TrackMan Marble less than ideal. However this concern can to a great extent be addressed by installing and running the customization software available from Logitech which can enable the trackball to be used as a scrollwheel (on PCs) or the Back/Forward buttons as Scroll Up/Down (on MACs).

Note:Unlike many trackballs, the ball on the Trackman Marble is easily removed from the housing for cleaning.
