The RollerMouse Pro Slim by Contour Design introduces new design features (trayless rollerbar, narrower 15" width) to the Contour Design line of RollerMouse central pointing devices. As with other models the RollerMouse Pro Slim sits immediately between the operator and keyboard space bar. This keeps all mousing activity "inline", i.e., in the area immediately in front of the keyboard, eliminating the need to reach to either left or right for a mouse. This also makes it suitable for situations where there may be insufficient room for a mouse to be placed immediately beside the keyboard. Like all RollerMouse solutions, cursor movement is achieved by manipulating the tube-like cylindrical "rollerbar" with the fingertips. Rotating the rollerbar moves the cursor up and down, and sliding the bar from side to side accomplishes horizontal movement. Once the desired location is achieved, a left click can be generated by pressing down on the bar (the force required for this is adjustable from an ultra-light touch to highly tactile). Eight buttons and a scroll wheel are located below the bar to generate left/middle/right clicks, copy, paste, back, forward and vertical scrolling. There is also a cursor speed button on the left end of the device for accessing ten different speed settings ranging from 600 to 2800 dpi. The RollerMouse Pro also comes with adjustable keyboard "risers" to lift up standard and compact single piece keyboards. Controls can also be heavily customized using the downloadable driver.
The RollerMouse Pro is equipped with a 0.7" diameter smooth-surfaced rollerbar similar to that on the premium RollerMouse Red models. The bar is 7.1" wide and offers a finer degree of control than other models that have bars of a smaller diameter, especially for vertical movement. The new "trayless" design also means that crumbs, dust or debris can no longer collect below the rollerbar but rather drop straight through onto the desk surface for easier cleanup. The robust plastic housing results in a quality sturdy housing. The Vegan Leather palm support attaches magnetically and offers firm cushioning for the heels of the hands and is easily removable for cleaning. The tracking technology on the RollerMouse Pro further enhances cursor control, especially valuable on multi-monitor workstations. All these design elements make cursor control precise and effortless without compromising durability and robustness. The "virtual" clicking mechanism generates a "percussion-free" but audible "click" that can be adjusted in volume or fully disabled if so desired.
The RollerMouse Pro is 15" in width, narrower than most other RollerMouse models. This makes it very suitable for use with compact or compact financial keyboards (such as the Balance Keyboard.
Note: Where a full-width keyboard is being used one of the wider models such as the RollerMouse Red, RollerMouse Pro3, or RollerMouse Free3 should be considered. | Ergonomic Benefits |
---|
Eliminates Overreaching for a Traditional Mouse, Relieving Neck, Shoulder and Elbow Pain - Conventional keyboards will result in overreaching for the mouse as it is necessary to reach over the arrow keys and numeric keypad to get to the mouse. This can lead to neck, shoulder and elbow pain and discomfort. Asymmetrical reaching with one side of the body and not the other causes muscle groups to compensate for the weight of the extended arm while reaching for a traditional mouse. Repetitive overreaching will often lead to tightness and pain in the neck, shoulder and elbow areas. The RollerMouse central pointing devices allow the elbows to be kept comfortably at the sides in a neutral, ergonomic position. Learn More About the Comfort Zone.
Prevents Static Grip of the Mouse - The RollerMouse Pro Slim is controlled with an open relaxed hand and slightly curled fingers, with no possibility of clutching or holding the device to achieve cursor control. Fingertips simultaneously rotate and slide the rollerbar to navigate the cursor over the entire screen (or multiple screens), with very little friction or resistance. By eliminating the muscle activity required to grip a mouse, the associated compression through the carpal tunnel is also avoided. Learn More About Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Ambidextrous Cursor Control - By centrally locating the mouse buttons inline beneath the center of the letter keys, mouse control is equidistant from either hand. Ambidextrous use is encouraged and easily accomplished.
Reduction of Repetitive Actions - Any finger can be used to click on the rollerbar, spreading the load across both hands, unlike most mice where only the index finger is able to generate left clicks, which can lead to the development of trigger finger. Learn More About Trigger Finger.
Reduces Unnecessary and Awkward Movements - The "One Touch" buttons for Copy, Paste, and Double Click reduce unnecessary cursor movement, clicking, and awkward keyboard stretches.
Repetitive Vibration Reduction - The percussion-free click design eliminates the repetitive minute vibrations that can irritate tissue and nerves.
Wire Free Deployment (wireless model only) - For those who do not want or cannot have a wired mouse, especially those using sit stand desks, the wireless model meets those needs, so that there is no hassle involved in managing unsightly cables or wires on the desk.

- Wired Reliability and Data Security: The Wired model of the RollerMouse Pro Slim eliminates any wireless issues or security concerns as all communication is done via the cord.
If a wireless connection is desired then the Wireless model which supports Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless, and can even function in a solely wired mode should be considered. - Wireless Connection (Wireless Model Only): The Wireless model of the RollerMouse Pro Slim is able to connect in 3 ways (Wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz). The bluetooth and 2.4 GHZ wireless options free the desktop of cords, so that clutter can be minimized and workable space maximized. The device will connect to devices that are bluetooth enabled or through any bluetooth dongle. In situations where bluetooth is either unavailable or not permitted the RollerMouse Pro includes a 2.4 GHz wireless dongle (USB-A) that supports 128 bit encryption. This receiver can also simultaneously support connection of the Contour Design Balance Keyboard. And when a wired connection is required the USB-A charging cord doubles as a data cord, providing a completely secure wired connection.
Note: It is possible to lock out either the Bluetooth or the 2.4 GHz connection. - Open-Body RollerBar Design: On earlier models of the RollerMouse the rollerbar was integrated into the body of the RollerMouse - suspended above or within a recess in the device. The RollerMouse Pro now has the bar suspended directly above the desk. Dust, crumbs or debris will now drop straight through to the desk surface for ease of cleanup.
- Compact Width: At just 15" in width, the Rollermouse Pro Slim is ideal for use with a basic compact keyboard or a compact financial such as the Balance Keyboard. It will also work with full-width keyboards but will not extend the full width of the keyboard in front of the navigation keys and numeric keypad. Where a full-size keyboard is being used the RollerMouse Pro3 or RollerMouse Red models would be more suitable.
- Wireless Data Security (Applies to Wireless model): All data being entered using a 2.4 GHz receiver from Contour Design is secured using AES 128 bit encryption. During the pairing process a random encryption key is generated and exchanged between the dongle and the wireless device, then stored and used afterwards to secure the communication.
- Highly Accurate Rollerbar Tracking: The RollerMouse Pro Slim models feature a larger diameter rollerbar than earlier Contour Design RollerMouse Pro models. The bar is able to track at 10 levels of resolution (600 to 2800 dpi). Rotating the bar moves the cursor up and down on the screen, with lateral left or right movement accomplished by simply sliding the rollerbar from side to side. The combination of rotation and lateral movement gives complete cursor control.
- Large 0.75" Diameter Rollerbar: The 0.75" diameter rollerbar is larger than earlier Contour Design RollerMouse Pro models. This larger diameter bar leads to finer control than the earlier bars could provide. In fact, it is almost as large as the rollerbar on the premium RollerMouse Red models.
- Sturdy Rigid Housing: The RollerMouse Pro Slim has a robust plastic housing that when combined with the narrower 15" width, results in a very rigid housing.
- Bluetooth Option (wireless model only): Model CDRMPRO10110 offers the option of connecting via Bluetooth. It also includes a 2.4 gHz receiver (USB-A) for standard wireless operation, or can be connected as a wired device using the included USB-A charging/data cord.
- Percussion-Free Clicking: In order to give the feeling of tactility to the rollerbar when it is depressed, special sensors are used to generate an audible but "percussion-free" click. This feature can also be turned off completely, so that no audible "click" is heard while depressing the rollerbar to generate a click action. The degree of force required to generate clicks can also be adjusted according to personal preferences.
- Rollerbar Click Force Adjustment: The degree of downward force that is required to generate a rollerbar click can be changed by simply pressing a button combination. The four available settings accommodate differing force levels according to individual preference. There is also a "no click" setting for those who wish to disable rollerbar clicking.
- Palm Supports: The RollerMouse Pro Slim has an integrated vegan leather palm support that offers a firm shock absorbing resting spot for the heels of the hands when mousing and keying.
- Easy to Use Keyboard “Lifters”: Like other RollerMouse models, the RollerMouse Pro Slim ships with two keyboard lifters to elevate low-profile keyboards for optimized use with the rollerbar. Adjustable feet on these lifters provide a secondary level so they can accommodate even the lowest profile keyboards and can also be used to create a nominal negative or positive inclination on the keyboard. These do not attach to the RollerMouse Pro and can be positioned to best support any standard one-piece keyboard, be it compact or full-width.
- Plug and Play Connectivity for both PC and Mac Computers: The RollerMouse Pro Slim is HID compliant and has the drivers on board. Once the cord is plugged into any USB-A port it will install the drivers and provide notification when it is ready for use.
The Wireless model will initially seek for a bluetooth connection when first powered on, then search for the 2.4 GHz receiver (the receiver will automatically load the driver when it is installed). Of course it can also be connected using the charging/data cord.
- Eight Pre-Programmed Button Functions: There are two easy options to perform a left click. Either press down on the rollerbar itself, or click on the left side of the large lower button. Other button functions include a traditional right click button, a single touch "double click" button, a scroll wheel, a cursor speed button (on the side of the RollerMouse), "one touch" copy and "one touch" paste, as well as a middle click or autoscroll (by clicking the scroll wheel).
- Cursor Speed Selection: The RollerMouse Pro Slim has 10 different cursor speed settings that can be changed in a moment with the press of a dedicated speed control button. Five lights directly above the button identify the current speed setting. The DPI settings are: 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, 2000, 2400 and 2800. When finer cursor control is required the lower settings offer enhanced precision while the higher speeds provide much greater cursor movement when working across multiple screens. Adjustment is done on-board.
- Custom Programming (Including Application Specific): Although the RollerMouse Pro Slim works plug and play, the button functions can also be easily reprogrammed and customized by simply downloading the custom programming driver from the Contour Design website. This driver offers extensive pre-configured options for button function as well as the option of creating many user-defined and even application-specific commands. The driver can be downloaded prior to purchase if there is a desire to know in advance what options are available.
- Click Sound Adjustability: Because the audible "click" generated when the rollerbar is depressed is electronically generated, it is possible to adjust the volume or to turn the "audible notification" fully off.
- Rechargeable (wireless model only): The RollerMouse Pro Wireless is rechargeable via the included USB-A??? cable.
- Battery Level Indicator (wireless model only): When powered on the LEDs in the upper left will illuminate temporarily to show the current battery level. At 20% charge or below a single blinking LED offers notification that the charging cable needs to be connected.
Note: When the charging cable is connected the RollerMouse Pro reverts to operating as a wired device. Upon disconnection of the cord it will revert to bluetooth or the 2.4 GHz wireless receiver mode. If the wireless receiver dongle has been removed to facilitate connection of the charging cord it will need to be reinstalled for wireless use.

| Usage Tips |
---|
- Do not use your thumbs to move the rollerbar! The rollerbar is designed to be moved by the fingers, which are drawn towards the torso when the rollerbar is accessed. While using the thumbs may feel natural at first, accessing the rollerbar with the thumbs actually requires you to reach back to access the rollerbar and will tend to position the thumbs in an almost overextended position where there is sustained tension when moving the rollerbar. Repetitively engaging the thumbs in such an awkward manner may over time cause fatigue and pain.
- Make sure the edge of the keyboard closest to you is straight with no built-in palm support. This point is very important, since any curved edge or palm support between keyboard and the RollerMouse will only create more distance between you and the keyboard, creating additional problems of overreaching.
- If you are going to use your RollerMouse Pro and keyboard on a tray, make sure the tray is at least 10.5" deep. Since many standard keyboards are about 6" deep and the RollerMouse Red itself 4.25" deep, you will need a tray at least 10.5" deep in order to properly stabilize both keyboard and mouse on the tray surface.
- Take turns using either left or right hands to move the rollerbar. By alternating hands periodically, you lessen the fatigue in both hands, and so help reduce the overall risk of developing pain from extensive mousing. The ambidextrous nature of the RollerMouse encourages such usage. Once you are trained in working this way, it will become second nature.
