The Office Balance Board from Aidata can aid in reducing fatigue both when sitting and standing. It accomplishes this by encouraging active movement of the lower limbs throughout the day. When standing it is possible to simply rock from left to right or flex from front to back to fully engage the feet, ankles, calves and even the upper legs by engaging with full range of tilting and twisting motion that can be achieved. When in a seated position it can serve as a low footrest that offers a left/right rocking motion to keep the feet active.
The primary action of the Office Balance Board is the left/right rocking motion which occurs naturally when weight is shifted from side to side. Because the range of motion is determined by the degree of shifting it is totally under control at all times. The secondary effect is the twisting action that can be achieved by actively engaging the feet and ankles and shifting weight front-to-back and diagonally. Because all of these movements, and the degree to which they are engaged in, are completely under the control of the individual this balance board may be less intimidating than some designs that balance from a single central point.
For anyone who likes to fidget, move, etc. throughout the day, whether that is to aid in maintaining focus or simply because they “have to move”, the Office Balance Board may be an ideal solution at a surprisingly low cost. And, of course, the movement encourages circulation in the lower legs that can reduce the risk of swelling of the lower limbs.
The simple but sturdy construction means the Office Balance Board can support up to an impressive 330 pounds. The wide stance (16” midpoint-to-midpoint) that the foot plate positioning requires ensures stability for people of all heights. The rubberized inserts are removable for easy cleaning and have raised bumps to provide a subtle massage for the feet when used without footwear. | | Ergonomic Benefits |

Aidata Office Balance Board - The Office Balance Board is designed in a way that naturally leads individuals to being more "active" while standing. This activity will exercise the joints and muscles of the feet, ankles, legs, knees and hips, improving circulation and posture. Bending the knees during movement will stimulate additional muscles particularly from the thigh to the lower back.
Increased Alertness - The Office Balance Board naturally lends itself to instinctive active movement. This active engagement can lead to an improvement in mental focus. The brain remains actively engaged in calculating the degree of response needed to maintain balance, eliminating tendencies towards lethargy.
Avoids the Risk Factors of Standing When Working - Studies have shown that extended standing can result in blood pooling in the lower legs due to the static state of the leg muscles, resulting in edema (swelling of the feet and lower legs) and a corresponding increase in varicose vein problems. This also increases the load on the circulatory system which has to push this pooled blood back out of the legs. There is good evidence that this can exacerbate existing or possibly lead to heart and circulatory problems. Many people who stand extensively, especially on hard floors (concrete, ceramic tile, etc), develop heel problems that can manifest as bone spurs or plantar fasciitis. Standing is also more tiring, something which has been well-known in industry for many years. Industry has addressed this by providing anti-fatigue mats, anti-fatigue footwear, and chairs to sit on during rest breaks - each of which is aimed to reduce the tiring effects of standing. The Office Balance Board facilitates standing for longer periods of time while at the same time reducing exposure to the risk factors described above. This movement activates the “pumping action” that aids in moving blood from the soles of the feet to the legs, reducing foot fatigue.

| | Usage Tips |

- The Office Balance Board Offers a wide range of movement but you may wish to start with a simple left/right rocking movement, limiting the degree of motion you initially engage in. Once you have become comfortable with that level you can increase it over time and then engage with the bending/twisting action that will fully actively engage your feet, ankles, calves, and even the upper legs. Doing this gradually will permit your brain and nervous system to "learn" and apply the necessary compensating movements in a subtle or "background" fashion. This will permit you continue to focus your conscious attention on your work. If the balancing requires too much of a conscious effort you may suffer a loss of productivity due to your attention being too much on achieving balance for your body.
- The Office Balance Board can be used on a variety of surfaces that includes short-nap carpet, tile, desk chair mats, etc. When centrally balanced a 1.5” diameter rubber pad bears the weight but when rocking the support ribs on the underside disperse weight across a much broader area. However, you may wish to place a piece of hard surfaced material between the flooring and the Office Balance Board to provide additional protection against localized wear.
