The Muvman from Aeris is a premium leaning seat designed to encourage active movement throughout the day while working at adjustable or elevated workstations. The movement is achieved through a pivot joint at the base that accommodates movement in all directions. As the range of movement is explored the torso and hips become actively engaged in making continuous subtle adjustments. This means that rather than simply reducing the weight on the legs (as traditional fixed lean-to stools accomplish), this pivoting capability allows the Muvman to continuously adjust to movement throughout the day. The Muvman is also ergonomically beneficial in that it encourages an upright posture, and when used as a leaning seat it greatly reduces the strain on the lower spine when compared to a traditional seated position.
The well-padded Flexzone Seat (available in fabric or leatherette) on the Muvman has a slight convex contour that lets the seat mould itself to the body, preventing pressure points. The seat also easily rotates to the left or right, offering extended movement range while at a workstation, but has a spring-assisted “return to neutral” feature that ensures the seat is always centred and ready for use. The raised handle at the rear makes movement of the lightweight (13.9 lb) Muvman very simple but also serves to encourage one to adopt an optimal seating position. The seat on the Muvman is supported by an adjustable column that leans forward at 4°, encouraging a forward tilt on the pelvis to help support a healthy S-Curve in the spine. From the default position the column can also tilt about 7° throughout the full 360°. Easy-touch buttons on the underside of the seat facilitate infinite height adjustment between 20" and 33.5". The broad range makes the Muvman suitable for heights ranging from 4’6” to over 6’, while also accommodating a range of seating positions. The Muvman also becomes an in-between seating option for short-term tasks, making the transition to and from a standing position become almost effortless.
The 15” diameter base is equipped with non-slip rubber to ensure safety on any flooring, and because the Muvman has a limited tilt angle it also ensures that the overall footprint of the seat is limited, keeping the base in close proximity to the torso.
The SAIPH Foot Brace Rail is designed for those who would like to brace their feet against a sturdy, slip-free support, or when one would like to prop one foot up from time to time when standing to alleviate strain on the lower back.
Caution: The Muvman should not be used with a standard foot rest, especially those with non-locking foot platforms.
Note: Anyone familiar with the discontinued Mobis or Mobis II seats from Focal Upright may be interested in considering the Muvman as the movement is very similar. | | Ergonomic Benefits |

Promotes Correct Posture - The Aeris Muvman provides a 'forward tilt' on the pelvis which naturally encourages the 'S-curve' necessary for proper spinal alignment. This positions the head over the spine, ensuring that the back can provide the necessary support without fatigue. It also encourages a noticeably more upright stance, with a reduction of the forward bend of the neck. By combining the Muvman Seat with a correctly positioned monitor the head can be properly supported over the spine. Not only is this a relaxed position, it is also healthier and places less strain on the muscles of the neck and upper back.
Reduces Weight Load on Legs and Feet - The Muvman accommodate weight transfer from the feet to the seat, thereby reducing the pressure on the joints of the lower limbs. This translates into reduced risk of damage to the knee and hip joints (which can occur when these joints remain under continuous strain from standing on hard surfaces).
'Active Working' Dynamic - The Aeris features a pivot base that encourages active movement of the torso throughout the day. This movement can benefit the entire body as it will exercise core muscles in addition to the muscles of the legs. Flexing of the leg muscles is difficult when in a traditional standing position and can lead to lower limb (edema) as blood and fluid collects in them. Relaxed activation of those muscles is encouraged when making regular postural adjustments and using them to provide balance throughout the day. Although minimal, this minor flexing aids in moving fluids back into the circulatory system.
Promotes Health of Spinal Discs - The 'Active Working' referred to earlier also has a positive impact on the spine. The continuous movement creates a 'pumping' action within the spinal discs. This action aids in drawing nutrients into the discs and expelling waste, resulting in healthier discs.
Improves Internal Organ Activity - The Muvman encourages adoption of an Open Core Stance that in turn reduces pressure on the internal organs. This means easier and deeper breathing as the lungs are no longer compressed and the diaphragm is not restricted. In addition, this stance and the resulting increase in movement also encourage a more active digestive tract and can enhance overall circulation.
Increases Mental Alertness - The upright posture, deeper breathing, improved circulation, and increased ability to move all contribute to a greater degree of mental alertness as cardiovascular activity is significantly increased over that of a traditional static seated position.
Reduces Risk of Lower Back Pain - For many people, standing in a static position for extended periods with the feet flat (such as at a standing desk), can lead to lower back pain. The muscles of the lower back are able to relax when the Muvman is used to carry the weight by sitting on or leaning.
Reduces Fatigue - Many people who have adopted the concept of Standing to Work have discovered that standing all day is actually tiring, especially on the feet and legs. For those who are pursuing a more healthy and active lifestyle, standing while working can actually reduce their ability to achieve this goal. The reason is that by the end of the day some may find that their legs and feet are already exhausted and require a rest. As a result, rather than having energy to pursue their recreational activities at the end of the day, those people find themselves seeking respite from activity. By 'leaning' or 'perching' on the Aeris Muvman throughout the day and allowing the seat to bear their weight users can significantly reduce this fatigue, leaving them with the energy to actively enjoy their recreational choices. (Anti-Fatigue Mats can also provide additional cushioning which will further aid in relaxing the feet.)
Expands Comfort Zone - The upright stance provided by the Muvman, combined with the 7° tilting range of the seat available throughout the entire 360° pivoting arc, provides an extended reach that cannot be achieved with fixed leaning seats. This expands their comfort zone, providing access to a larger area of the worksurface while at the same time reducing the risk of overextension.
Decreases Neck Rotation - The rotation range of the Muvman seat readily accommodate turning the entire torso to left or right, rather than relying soley on rotation at the neck. This reduces strain on the neck while also encouraging more torso engagement.

- 360° Pivoting Base: The seat on the Muvman is mounted to a pivot base which enables the seat to freely follow the movements of the body when shifting position throughout the day. This ability to pivot encourages continual movement that can trigger repetitive core muscle activation as balance is maintained. The support column is set at a default 4° forward tilt and can move approximately 7° from the position throughout the entire 360° arc.
- Rotating Seat: The seat rotates freely to left and right but is also equipped with a “return to centre” feature that automatically rotates the seat back to the central neutral position as soon as weight is removed.
- Adjusts to Fit the Stature: The Muvman seat is height adjustable within a very wide range (20" – 33.5") which enables it to accommodate users ranging from 4'6" to well over 6' tall.
- Comfortable: The Muvman seat is well padded with a slight convex curvature that lets the seat form to the body, ensuring a secure and comfortable position.
- Universal: The Aeris Muvman can be combined with any Standing Desk or Height Adjustable Worksurface.
- Portable: The Muvman is designed with portability in mind. Weighing in at just 13.9 pounds, the seat can be easily moved with the integrated handle built into the back of the seat. This makes it ideal for those who wish to regularly switch between the 'leaning/perching' and 'standing' positions or who wish to take it with them to co-worker's workstations, meetings, etc.
- Storable: Since the Muvman can be lowered to 20" it can easily be stored out of the way when desired, even just tucked under the desk.
- Robust: The Muvman is rated to support up to 264 lbs (120 kg).
