Product Category Descriptions

KEYBOARDS

• Alternative Layout - alternative layout keyboards such as contoured keyboards redesign the conventional keyboard, creating concave three-dimensional keywells for the keys to be arranged in. Alternative layouts also include keyboards which are hard wired for DVORAK (instead of the standard QWERTY layout).
• Adjustable / Separated - these keyboards take the regular design and physically split them into two pieces which allow for tenting (raising the middle of the keyboard up to accommodate pronation) and spilt or splay (rotating each section out to prevent ulnar deviation). Separated keyboards take this one step further by physically separating the two keyboards sections.
• Combo / All-in-One - these keyboards offer both a keyboard and mouse solution within one unit, usually with an embedded touchpad or trackball. By integrating the mousing solution, the user will never have to 'reach over' the keyboard or overextend when trying to reach a mouse which often can not be accommodated on the keyboard tray.
• Compact/Mini - while most of our keyboards are substantially smaller than the norm (15-17" for most), these are keyboards which offer even smaller footprints (6"-16") to accommodate workstations with very little space for input devices. Most of the savings in space is often due to embedding the numeric keypad and / or eliminating the wasted space on the right side of the keyboard.
• Fixed Split/Angle - these are keyboards which are not adjustable and attempt to provide a 'one size fits all' neutral position of the keyboard surface. Vertical keyboards are orthopedically neutral for all users, and we offer a fixed vertical keyboard in this category.
• Large and Small Keycap and/or Legends - for some individuals targeting the keys on a conventional keyboard can be difficult. Larger keys and keycaps provide easier targets for individuals with reduced motor dexterity, and smaller keys and keycaps make it easier for individuals with limited range of motion or smaller hands to reach the entire keyboard. Large Font keyboards have regular sized keys but large easy-to-read fonts for individuals with visual impairments, but no issues with finger dexterity or range of movement.
• One-Handed / Left-Handed - one handed keyboards are keyboards which allow full or near complete functionality while minimizing the range of motion required (to allow a user with a single functional hand to use the keyboard comfortably). Left handed keyboards place the numeric keypad on the left hand side of the keyboard, allowing left handed number crunchers to use their dominant hand on the keypad, and also reducing the reach for right handed mouse users while maintaining a full 104 key keyboard.
• Numeric Keypads - explore the possibilities of Numeric and other Special layout Keypads, accommodating left or right handed users and with advanced models offering programmability, for some users a 20-key or 58-key keypad is all they need - replacing the keyboard!

MICE

• Alternative - these products provide an innovative alternative to traditional mousing options, such as central pointing devices, providing multiple interfaces in a single unit or even complete hands-free devices which track head movement.
• Assistive - these products are considered 'assistive technology' items as they enable individuals with disabilities to work on computers who otherwise would be denied access to computers.
• Contoured - there are many different ergonomically designed mice which through their contoured shape are more comfortable for the user, including vertical mice which put the user in a 'handshake' position.
